5 Simple Steps to Start Your Healing Journey

Hi, beautiful people! 🙂

As it turns out, writing while an overgrown 1-year-old is constantly trying to climb out of the furniture barricade I made for him has proven difficult these past few months. So I thought I’d give video blogging a try! I have so much information that I want to share, and this seemed to be the quickest and easiest way to get it out there.

One of the questions I hear most often as a nutritionist is “Where do I start?”. There is so much conflicting information out there about calories, macronutrients, micronutrients, protein, carbs, paleo, gluten free, and low carb craziness! While I am a firm believer that everyone has their own unique nutritional needs (as Urban Cave Baby explained to us in my last post), it is also true that there are some basic steps that will benefit almost everyone.     Great video Jamianne! Would love to know more about what vitamins/supplements you recommend. I’m having a hard time finding some that fit within all my guidelines.

    1. Thanks, Heather! I really like garden of life’s vitamin code raw whole food vitamins (I’m taking their prenatal now). I know for sure that they’re gf/df and I think soy free? What other guidelines do you have to work with?

      Sugar & corn. I have found a great probiotic but that’s about it. I was also looking into taking a cod liver oil supplement & read an article about using it in conjunction with raw dairy to help it be better absorbed ect but I can’t do the dairy. I was researching it to help with some dental issues. Also, just read about how my vitamin d3 isn’t really effective if I’m not taking vitamin k for proper absorption. So much info out there lol!

      We take the butter oil blend and it’s amazing!! And I LOVE Wellness Mama!
      We have been on the tooth remineralization plan for a long time with Audrey.

      Really Christy?! I’m having a hard time fixing some dental issues, and I think I need more than just oil pulling. I’ve been reading up on it for a while, but didn’t know anyone who has tried it. Looking for alternative ways to heal. I have witnessed how my diet has helped heal so many other ailments, so I know there has got to be a way to help my teeth as well.

    5. That’s awesome, Christy! I’ve been looking for a similar solution after my last pregnancy leeched every nutrient out of me and really did a number on my teeth. I’ll have to look into wellness mama!

      Heather: I would only try it with the go ahead from your health care provider, but high quality, grass fed, hormone free, organic “real” butter could be beneficial, even with a dairy sensitivity. Most people sensitive to dairy are sensitive to the sugar (lactose) or the protein (casein), but butter is only fat, which most people can tolerate. If you try it, go slowly and log your food and symptoms just in case. Everyone is different, but it’s something to consider.

      That’s exactly what I’m experiencing Jamianne. Pregnancy killed my teeth. All the morning sickness stomach acids & stealing of nutrients left me with teeth that need help. As to the butter issue, I’ve gotten mixed info. I know the benefits of real butter, but my issues are to both the sugar & casein of traditional dairy products. Chris eats butter in his bulletproof coffee & I tried it slowly, but experienced issues. I’m wondering if supplement form would be any different? I think my body is just so sensitive after being off of everything for so long.

    7. Heather: Yeah, if you tried it and experienced symptoms then it may not be for you. 🙁 Here’s the multivitamin I recommend. It’s binder free (no cornstarch) and there is no soy allergen warning, so I believe it’s soy and corn free. I don’t see any sugar listed, either. http://bit.ly/1FRfBsT
