Girdles, Needles and Nesting
So, in case you’re wondering… still no baby! 🙂 But as I explained in my last post, baby and I are still in a healthy time frame to spend some more quality time together before he comes out to meet the rest of you. In fact, we had an appointment at the Midwifery yesterday confirming that we have a healthy and rambunctious little boy who is still quite happy to be where he is. So much so that last night he was moving around like crazy (I think he gets his moves from his daddy)! However, we are still doing what we can to encourage him to join us in any natural way possible. My midwife said that baby is in a great position, but that his location is a tad bit far back. In order to help him align properly, she has me wearing a sort of girdle (looks a lot like those velcro back braces) 6 hours a day to encourage him to move in the right direction.
We will also be visiting my awesome chiropractor today for another round of “come on out, baby” acupuncture. I have noticed quite a difference in my body since my last appointment, especially in regards to my stomach pain. I have been able to put off taking my medication later and later in the day because the stomach acid hasn’t started to upset as early as it used to, and the pain has really decreased. I can also feel Baby Bowen making his way down to where he ought to be, which is a huge blessing considering how high up he was only one week ago. Maybe this round of acupuncture will create an eventful weekend for us. 🙂
As for all the time spent waiting, I finally got up the energy to finish decorating our new(ish) apartment including Bowen’s little corner. We are so incredibly blessed to have found such a tiny and affordable place that still has a bedroom big enough for all three of us and a garage big enough to be our office/studio/music space. And to top it off, we have a yard and a patio big enough for gardening and playing in. It’s definitely cozy, but I love it this way. 🙂 Here are some of the results of my “nesting”:
So if you’re wondering what Karl and I have been up to these past few weeks, it’s been a lot of World Cup, tiny baby laundry, hammering nails over and over until I find a part of the wall that isn’t a horrible patch job by the previous tennant, and walks on the beach whenever possible.
Thank you all for your love and prayers as we patiently wait for Bowen to arrive. The important thing is that baby is healthy, I’m surviving (thanks to Karl), and everything is in God’s hands. 🙂
