My First Baby Blurb!
After we found out I was pregnant, we took the day to reflect on our future at the happiest place on earth.
After months of being sentenced to nothing but mind-melting TV with no reading, video games, crocheting or exercise to break things up (5+ minutes of any aforementioned activity and vomiting will ensue), I have decided to try my hand at a bit of writing. It will be fun to keep friends and family informed, and as long as I keep my posts short and sweet my tummy will be fine… or at least as fine as it can be at the moment. 🙂
So, first things first: I’m pregnant! For those of you who have missed the Facebook and Instagram posts, we are expecting our little bundle of joy this June! Though it happened a bit quicker than we had anticipated (I guess my body is healthier than I realized if it can create a whole new human!), we are absolutely thrilled to welcome a new little future The Edge/Tori Amos to our family.
As far as my health, I’m told I’m doing wonderfully! Right before I became pregnant, I was feeling better than I ever had. I was down 20 lbs, consistently active and enjoying life! I had just started getting my nutrition practice underway and was earning some extra money on the side with a part time job at an amazing juice bar. Now that I’m pregnant, however, I have been so sick with “morning” sickness (if only it was just in the morning!) that I have had to step down from both my jobs and commence bed/couch rest for the last few months. Every once in a while I get the strength to get out of the house, but I always pay for it with double the pain/nausea by the end of the day. Fortunately, I have been told this is a very good sign for baby! We just had our 16-week checkup today, and baby’s heartbeat is loud and strong!
Now, I have received wonderful advice from friends and family for my sickness, and it has been so much appreciated! Unfortunately, most morning sickness remedies are aimed at easing the nausea side of things. Most of my pain, though, is being caused by an over-production of stomach acid which can be easily aggravated by many nausea remedies such as peppermint and ginger. However, I have finally found something to (kind of) help! So if there are any mamas like me out there with a burning tummy, be sure to pick up some of these bad boys from Wallgreen’s online store! They are all natural and have properties to ease nausea and acid! Plus they’re chewable, which is a godsend when your gag reflex is tired out from all that “morning” sickness.
Ok, starting to get woozy. But at least that was 10 minutes that I wasn’t watching Titanic 2! Which reminds me… all this time on Netflix definitely warrants for a best and worst list. Just a quick one, and I’m off!
Watch these! They’re wonderful! (Available on Netflix)
Watch these! They’re wonderfully awful! (Also available on Netflix)
